Call me naive or judgemental but up until recent years, I used to believe that introverted people were dull and that they were missing out on life. That’s because I used to preassume that that they were socially awkward, completely anti-social or even aloof. I know I am not alone.
Introverts are more concerned with their “inner world of the mind.” They do not enjoy superficial social interaction and prefer solitude. We live in a culture where interpersonal relationships provide the answer to all forms of distress. However, we all know that solitude can be as therapeutic as emotional support. “Me time” is something I appreciate more and more as I grow older and it helps me better understand the loved ones around me who are more on the introverted side. Relationships run more smoothly when we’re aware of one another’s needs and sensitivies. That’s why its important to understand not only ourselves but the minds of the people around us.
